DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — A former Decatur Police Department officer has filed a federal lawsuit against a number of city and police officials, claiming workplace discrimination and unequal treatment.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court on behalf of Rosslon Jowers, who was a Decatur police officer and detective from 2015 to 2022, according to the lawsuit. She was served with a notice of termination in May 2022.

The lawsuit says that Jowers was subject to racial and gender discrimination, a hostile work environment, retaliation and a failure to promote. The lawsuit also says those working conditions led her to experience multiple health issues.
The defendants named include the City of Decatur, Decatur Police Department officials Justin Lyon, Brian Prosser and former Chief Todd Pinion.
