MADISON, Ala. — Following a 6-1 vote by the Madison City Council Monday night, a new Animal Control Building will be coming to the city.
The $609,000 project will nearly double the size of the current facility, which currently has six cat cages and five dog kennels and was built in the 90’s, according to District 1 Councilmember Maura Wroblewski. The construction bid was awarded to SW Commercial Contracting, LLC.
Wroblewski has been the driving force behind getting the new building. “I have fostered for our animal control officers, as well as several other rescues in the area. It seems like every door I knock on, there’s either a cat that runs away from the door, or a dog that runs to the door. I’m just a huge animal lover, and I know the most of our residents are as well.”…
