Huntsville on pace to add more land in 2025 than any year in the last decade

In early July, the Huntsville City Council voted to add more than 1,000 acres in the Rocket City’s latest annexation bid. The move pushed the city into Marshall County, the fourth county in its ever sprawling footprint.

2025 has been a big year for Alabama’s biggest city, both in terms of land area and population. Huntsville annexed nearly 1,700 acres of land through the first seven months of the year.
