HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — After nearly a decade of waiting, Shauntaye Whiteside and her family finally received the keys to their new home Saturday with Habitat for Humanity of the River Valley. It was a moment filled with emotions.
“It was very emotional because my kids have been wanting this for a while so I just made it happen for them,” Whiteside said.
Whiteside first entered the Habitat program in 2017 but was forced to pause her journey after becoming pregnant with her youngest child. “I was in the program at first back in 2017, and I had got pregnant with my youngest, and I couldn’t do what needed to be done,” she said. “So they told me they was gonna put me on pause but then COVID hit.”…
