Hikers and child found safe in separate incidents on Monte Sano

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Rescue crews were called to Monte Sano twice on Saturday, successfully locating two hikers and a 12-year-old.

Huntsville Fire and Rescue District Chief Pat Sanders told News 19 that the child was separated from his mother during a marathon taking place at the state park. She was running in the race while he rode his bike. Sanders said another person participating in the marathon found the child, and he was reunited with his mother.

Huntsville Fire and Rescue was called back to the state park at about 3:15 p.m. Sanders said two hikers got lost on a trail. HFR was able to locate the hikers soon after they arrived…
