MADISON, Ala. — A local veterans nonprofit opened a new community center Friday designed specifically to serve women in the military with classes, therapy, retreats and space to de-stress.
Invisible Warriors held the grand opening of their facility in Madison, marking the culmination of more than three years of work to address what organizers say is a critical gap in services for female veterans.
“We need that privacy versus men, they can talk it up a little bit. Women, we’re more embarrassed. We’re more ashamed,” said Robin Emanuel, a U.S. Army veteran. “So, being able to come together in a private space where we feel comfortable, it’s a need.”…
