Athens homecoming parade set for today, route announced

ATHENS, Ala. — Athens schools will release students early Friday, Sept. 5, ahead of the annual Homecoming Parade.

The parade, a long-standing tradition celebrating floats, music, and school spirit, begins at 2 p.m. and travels from Athens High School through downtown before ending near the Athens Public Library.

Early dismissal times vary by school, with Pre-K at 11:30 a.m., Athens High at 11:45 a.m., elementary (K-3) at 12 p.m., intermediate and Renaissance at 12:10 p.m., and middle school at 12:20 p.m. Buses will follow these times, and Latchkey services will not be available…
