Redstone leaders work to ease gate frustrations as staffing shortage continues

REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. — Redstone Arsenal leaders say they are working on both short- and long-term solutions as the temporary closing of Gate 3 continues to frustrate workers and slow traffic.

The gate’s hours were reduced on Sept. 2, and it now shuts down to inbound and outbound traffic at 1 p.m. each day.

“We fully understand the significant frustration and impact with the gates,” Garrison Commander Col. Erin Eike said during a Sept. 3 community update. “It’s not only impacting important missions on the Arsenal, but personal time as well. Please understand that we are not closing the gates arbitrarily or to cause pain.”…
