The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a scam that is circulating through the area. Callers are falsely claiming to be representatives of the sheriff’s department and tell the person that they either have a warrant for their arrest or that a family member is being held in the jail. They request payment through Venmo, CashApp, Bitcoin, gift cards or similar methods. They urge residents not to fall for the scam. The department will never request or accept payment over the phone.
