Capital murder trial starts in Hartselle murder-for-hire case

Jury selection is underway for Logan Delp, accused of capital murder in the 2020 shooting death of Anthony Larry Sheppard in Hartselle.

Hartselle Police Chief Alan McDearmond said the investigation involved significant effort and a key car description that led to Delp’s arrest. Investigators believe Delp was hired by Jaclyn Skuce, Sheppard’s child’s mother, to carry out the murder. Three others, Lajuhn Keith Smart, Aaron Howard, and Angela Stolz, are also implicated.

“There was an ongoing child custody dispute between Larry Sheppard and his child’s mother,” McDearmond said. “From what we understand, it’s possible that custody was leaning towards his way more on the visitation side, and it just appeared that that was the main motive.”…
