Greater Huntsville Humane Society warns of scam calls

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Greater Huntsville Humane Society is warning residents of scam calls pretending to be the animal shelter.

GHHS said as of Oct. 30, it had received multiple calls from people saying they had been contacted by people pretending to be with the shelter and claiming that they needed to pay money to have their lost pets returned.

“These calls are not from GHHS,” the shelter said. “This is a scam. GHHS stresses that the organization would never contact community members by phone to solicit donations or request payment related to lost or missing pets.”
