The Land Trust of North Alabama recieves 25 acre donation from Huntsville family

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Land Trust of North Alabama announced that it has received a donation of 25 acres of protected habitat on Monte Sano.

According to a press release from Thursday, Oct. 30, the Land Trust said the land was donated by the Harman family. The newly acquired acreage shares about 1,826 feet of boundary with the Forever Wild Land Trust.

This addition is managed by Monte Sano State Park and strengthens the already large conservation corridor.

The land features an upland hardwood forest with minimal invasive species, which provides important habitat connectivity for the area’s plants and creatures. By conserving this property, the Land Trust will also help maintain the natural barrier between the surrounding residential and commercial areas.

Harman family members said that the donation was made in memory of their brother William Max Harman, who they described as a”true naturalist and lover of life.”…
