Huntsville-area native Cody Johnson wins CMA male vocalist amid recovery from ear injury

Huntsville-area native Cody Johnson took home Male Vocalist of the Year at Wednesday night’s CMA Awards in one of the few categories not swept by host Lainey Wilson.

Wilson, from Louisiana, won Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year.

Other Texans spotlighted at the 59th Annual Country Music Association Awards in Nashville were 93Q Houston for Radio Station of the Year in the Major Market category, and Dallas’ BigXthaPlug who performed with Luke Combs.
