Traffic stop leads to one arrested for drug trafficking in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says a man was arrested Monday for drug trafficking charges after police found over thirty grams of fentanyl in a search.

MCSO said on Nov. 24, Robert Gene Carroll, 49, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, possession with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana and second-degree possession of stolen property.

The sheriff’s office said the arrest came after an investigation that began as a traffic stop conducted by members of MCSO’s Street Crimes Unit. Authorities said that the stop took place in the area of Oakwood Avenue and Blue Springs Road.

MCSO said information from that stop led detectives to get a search warrant for a hotel room at 2209 North Memorial Parkway.

The sheriff’s office said that the search found a stolen firearm, 36.2 grams of fentanyl, 16.3 grams of cocaine, 6.5 grams of methamphetamine and 33.3 grams of marijuana…
