Hang up immediately if you get one of these calls, sheriff’s department warns

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about scams involving people impersonating deputies or other office employees.

According to a post on its Facebook page, the office continues to receive reports of scammers impersonating deputies and employees using spoofed Madison County Sheriff’s Office phone numbers to trick citizens into believing they have missed jury duty, have active warrants, or must immediately pay fines to avoid arrest.

One such scammer identifies himself as “Lt. Davis” and asks residents to call his direct number “about a legal matter.” The phone number he gives is an Attalla number, which is not in Madison County…
