From rookie to respected veteran: Burgess retires after 25 years

After 25 years with the Hartselle Police Department, Tania Burgess has retired, concluding a career rooted not in recognition but in a commitment to serving her community.

Burgess spent most of her tenure in the department’s Criminal Investigations Division, working alongside a team of three to four investigators who primarily handled felony cases, including the 2020 murder of a Hartselle man.
