ATHENS, Ala. — The Tennessee Valley Authority is encouraging residents near the Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant to familiarize themselves with emergency procedures, as officials distribute annual safety calendars detailing evacuation routes and siren testing schedules.
While TVA officials say a plant emergency is unlikely, they are collaborating with state and county authorities to ensure preparedness for the approximately 42,000 residents living near the facility.
