Woman funds her own re-entry program to help ex-inmates

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — Torry Barker, a formerly convicted felon who spent 20 years behind bars in Alabama’s tough prisons, was released in September.

“When I was getting into trouble, I had no knowledge of 25 to 30 years. I didn’t even know what that meant,” Barker explained.

Barker said he was involved in gang-related violence and addicted to drugs, which led to a life of crime.
