Gusty winds arrive Tuesday night ahead of Wednesday’s cold front

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Make sure you have all your holiday decorations tied down, winds will be increasing across the region Tuesday night.

A cold front is forecast to push through the region on Wednesday afternoon, which will bring the chance of gusty winds and cooler air by Thursday. Ahead of the front, winds will be out of the south-southwest, helping to bump high temperatures into the mid to upper 50s on Wednesday.

By Wednesday afternoon, winds will begin to shift out of the west-northwest, allowing the cooler air to filter in. After seeing near-average temperatures on Wednesday, the Tennessee Valley will struggle to reach 50 degrees on Thursday.

Breezy conditions will be possible early Tuesday evening, but the strongest wind gusts are forecast to impact the area Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Sustained winds are forecast to be from 10 to 15 mph, with gusts over 20 mph possible. The strongest wind gusts, 25 mph or greater, will be possible in the higher terrain on Wednesday afternoon…
