Child safety concerns growing in ignored community

NEW MARKET, Ala. (WHNT) — Neighbors say the many derelict homes and trash in a once proud neighborhood are attracting the wrong crowd.

Heather Anderson has lived in the Saddle Creek community for nearly 20 years.

“We just need to get it all of this out of here, like all the squatters and all the drugs and the sex offenders. We need to just get out of this neighborhood,” said Anderson.
