Hartselle woman celebrates 80th birthday by helping homeless pets

Kathy Lindsey of Hartselle marked her 80th birthday with the same compassion she’s shown animals throughout her life. Friends and family gathered last month at the Forrest Chapel Fellowship Hall to celebrate her Dec. 2 birthday, honoring her request to bring dog and cat food instead of traditional gifts.

Guests arrived with bags of food, treats and supplies, turning the celebration into a donation drive for the Morgan County Animal Shelter.

After the party, Lindsey delivered the items to the shelter herself and spent time visiting the animals. During her visit, she witnessed the arrival of an injured dog later named Morgan. The dog had suffered a severe paw injury requiring immediate medical attention…
