Victor Kiprop and Leahrose Mami have lists of accolades longer than a Dollar General receipt. Both added to their honors Saturday morning in the 4th annual Rocket City Marathon 10K.
Kiprop, 27, of Junction City, Kan., sped to a record time of 31:51 to win the kickoff to the marathon weekend races. More than 750 runners took to the sunny but chilly streets of Huntsville at 7 a.m. The 5K and 1-mile family run/walk followed, all starting in front of the Von Braun Center and ending inside the VBC South Hall.
Sunday’s races include the 49th annual Rocket City Marathon, at 7 a.m., and half marathon, which starts at 9 a.m. Half marathon runners will merge with the marathon at about 15 miles and both will finish in the VBC South Hall…
