HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — After nearly six months of pausing late fees and disconnections, Huntsville Utilities is reminding customers that announced it will resume these charges starting January 5.
This reinstatement comes after the rollout of their new enterprise software system in August 2025 and the federal government shutdown.
A spokesperson for HU says, “Disconnecting service is our last resort, and we do not take it lightly. It is never our desire to disconnect a customer’s service, but sometimes the overdue balances leave us no other option,” and reminds customers to start getting their accounts current now.”…
