HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — When temperatures drop below freezing, conditions become dangerous for those without access to heat.
People who sleep outside in the cold are at risk of developing hyperthermia, meaning their body temperature drops dangerously low. The team at Downtown Rescue Mission said they want to make sure people are safe and warm on freezing nights.

“We average about 315 people a night,” said Jonathan Walsh, the Vice President of Development at Downtown Rescue Mission. “When the weather drops like this, we could probably increase about 100 or so more people.”
