DECATUR, Ala. — A Hartselle man accused of recording video of a child in a bathroom stall in 2023 is set to appear in court Monday afternoon for a competency hearing.
The hearing follows a formal indictment by a Morgan County Grand Jury during its April 2024 term. Court documents identify the defendant as Blake Thomas Lorance, then 19, of Hartselle.
The charges stem from an incident on May 21, 2023, at the local Walmart. According to investigators:
- A victim reported entering a public restroom stall and noticing a cellphone being held under the partition from the neighboring stall.
- The phone’s camera application was open and pointed directly at the victim.
- After the victim confronted the suspect and fled the restroom, investigators used the victim’s description to identify Lorance.
