State’s wages up, state and local unemployment rates down

Alabama’s unemployment rate fell to 2.7% in November, down from 3.3% a year earlier, while average weekly wages climbed to a new record high, according to the Alabama Department of Workforce.

Morgan and Limestone counties had an unemployment rate, not seasonally adjusted, of 2.2%, both down from 2.7% in November 2024. People looking for a job in north Alabama have their choice of employers, with new companies moving in. In December, for example, Eli Lilly and Co. announced it would build a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Limestone County. The development will bring 450 manufacturing jobs and 3,000 construction jobs to the area…
