LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — Two men are facing drug trafficking charges after deputies say a K9 alert led to the discovery of a large amount of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Athens.
The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office reports the stop happened Jan. 8, 2026. Investigators with the Limestone County Narcotics Unit pulled over a truck and had K9 Ares conduct a free-air sniff around the vehicle. The dog alerted to the presence of narcotics, giving deputies probable cause to search the truck.
