HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – There’s a pizza restaurant in Huntsville that’s the textbook definition of a “mom and pop” spot. And for longtime residents, chances are it needs no introduction.
“The Hole” is a pretty cool name for a hangout spot sitting below ground level. It’s also where Big Ed’s Pizza got started 65 years ago. Though the building has changed hands, locations and prices since then, family is still at the heart of everything they do.
“I usually get in trouble for phrasing it this way, but we’ve been feeding you from the highchair to the wheelchair. And what I mean by that is I’ve had people come in who are pregnant, and they came from the hospital with their newborn. They get a pizza. That child has been eating our food forever, and now they’re 40 years old, and they’re bringing their kids,” Big Ed’s co-owner Darrell Denton said…
