Former Decatur councilman Hunter Pepper drops out of Morgan County Commission race

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. — Former Decatur councilman Hunter Pepper announced Tuesday that he is withdrawing from the race for Morgan County Commission District One, citing a new opportunity in the state capital that he says will allow him to better serve Alabamians.

Pepper, who previously served on the Decatur City Council and opted not to seek reelection last year, shared the decision on Facebook. In his post, he encouraged supporters to back his friend, Trinity Mayor Vaughn Goodwin, describing him as experienced, knowledgeable, and committed to serving the county.

“Mayor Goodwin has the knowledge, experience and the willingness to serve our county and make it a better place as a whole,” Pepper wrote. “His leadership and commitment to serving the town of Trinity has proven itself valuable.”…
