Icy roads force multiple closures across Huntsville on Jan. 24, police urge caution

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Winter weather is creating hazardous travel across Huntsville on Saturday, Jan. 24. At 9 a.m., police reported several roads and overpasses remain closed due to icy and slick conditions.

Huntsville Police say icy and slick conditions have led to the following closures:

  • Green Mountain Road
  • Bankhead Parkway
  • Memorial Parkway overpasses
  • Chapman Mountain (Highway 72 just past Moores Mill Road)
  • Greenbrier Road
  • Capshaw Road

Authorities are urging drivers to plan routes ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow all posted closures and barricades. Police warn that driving around barricades is both illegal and dangerous, and those areas are closed for public safety…
