Taylor Jade Lide, 25, was formally charged in a 2024 indictment filed in the Circuit Court of Limestone County. It alleges that Lide attacked the victim, “beating her with an ashtray” with the intent to kill.
The Alleged Assault
According to court documents, the grand jury charged Lide with two felony counts:
- Attempted Murder: Prosecutors allege Lide attempted to intentionally cause the death of Thurman by beating her with an ashtray.
- Second-Degree Domestic Violence (Assault): The second count specifies that Lide intended to cause physical injury to Thurman using the ashtray as a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.
The documents identify Thurman as Lide’s mother, elevating the assault charge to a domestic violence offense under Alabama law.
