Hundreds brave the freezing cold to protest ICE in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Despite sub-freezing temperatures, hundreds of people gathered on Governors Drive Saturday morning to voice their opposition to ICE and stand in solidarity with communities affected by immigration enforcement.

The protest, which ran from 10am to noon, drew a surprisingly strong turnout that organizers say demonstrates significant local opposition to ICE policies. Even in a state where polls show the agency maintains strong support.

“I’m so surprised I wouldn’t expect this from North Alabama but I’m happy there’s this many people here today supporting us supporting my people,” said protester Yesenia Hernandez, whose parents are immigrants. “I owe it to my parents; I wouldn’t be here without them.”…
