Police searching for escaped inmate in Alabama

ALABAMA — The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is searching for an inmate who walked away from a work detail at the Morgan County Jail.

Authorities said George Michael Echols, of Lacey’s Spring, left his assigned work detail while painting at the jail. Echols was being held on warrants for burglary and theft.

According to the sheriff’s office, Echols was last seen on foot heading north along the railroad tracks that run alongside the Morgan County Jail. He was wearing a light-colored T-shirt, black pants, and gray tennis shoes…
