One person was dead following a standoff Monday afternoon with Morgan County law enforcement agencies, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the standoff began after a state trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency followed up on a wreck in which a subject reportedly left the scene. When the trooper arrived at the suspect’s residence on Shagbark Trail in Somerville, the individual ran inside the home and later fired a shot.
The trooper maintained a secure position until additional law enforcement arrived, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Priceville Police Department and the Somerville Police Department, responded to the scene and secured the residence so the trooper could safely retreat…
