MADISON, Ala — Students at James Clemens High School staged a demonstration Wednesday afternoon to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement tactics, moving their action to after school hours following warnings from district officials about potential consequences.
FOX54 first reported on Sunday evening that school administrators moved to quash what was intended to be a walkout during learning hours. The protest was rescheduled to 3:45 p.m. after Madison City Schools sent a letter to parents indicating students could face disciplinary action.
Demonstrators gathered along County Line Road once classes ended, marching on the sidewalk beside the busy thoroughfare.
