Somerville man sentenced to five years in prison for 2020 murder of roommate

A Somerville man was sentenced Tuesday to serve five years in prison followed by two years of probation after pleading guilty to fatally shooting his roommate in 2020 and dumping the body in the Tennessee River.

Bobby Daryl Hamblen, 64, was initially charged with felony murder, first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of controlled substances. Court records show he was booked into the Morgan County Jail on July 24, 2020, and released on a $100,000 bond on Nov. 9, 2020. He was in custody at the jail as of Thursday afternoon, according to jail records.
