LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — The wreckage of a plane that crashed in South Carolina, killing a Huntsville man, was removed from the crash site Saturday and is headed to Georgia for further investigation.
Andrew Frederick Nichols, 30, of Huntsville, died Friday when the single-engine aircraft crashed near Gilbert, SC, while attempting an emergency landing due to engine failure. The plane was headed to Decatur when it went down.
National Transportation Safety Board investigator Aaron McCarter confirmed the aircraft was removed from the crash site on Country Creek Lane about mid-morning Saturday and will be taken to Griffin, Georgia…
