Cake mix recall upgraded to FDA’s most dangerous category

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A nationwide cake mix recall has been escalated to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s most serious classification — a Class I recall — after it was determined that the products contain an undeclared milk allergen that could pose a life-threatening risk to consumers with allergies.

The recall, originally initiated in December by B.C. Williams Bakery Service, covers multiple cake and bread mixes that were distributed across the country. The FDA warns that exposure to the product could result in serious adverse health consequences or death, particularly for individuals with milk allergies.

The products impacted by the recall are as follows:
