Athens updates key intersections with new four-way stops for safety

ATHENS, Ala. — The City of Athens is updating several intersections to improve safety and traffic flow.

Officials say the flashing red lights at Washington Street and Beaty Street, as well as Washington Street and East Street, will be removed and replaced with four-way stop signs.

New flashing red lights will also be installed at Marion Street and Hobbs Street, in front of City Hall, to create a four-way stop at that location…
