HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Downtown Huntsville is preparing for a festive celebration this weekend as the city’s annual Mardi Gras Parade returns on Saturday, Feb. 14, promising colorful floats, marching bands, upbeat music and plenty of beads for crowds of all ages.
The phrase “Mardi Gras” translates in French from Mardi (Tuesday) and gras (fat).

The parade, a signature event of Huntsville’s Carnival season, is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. in the heart of downtown. Organizers are urging paradegoers to arrive early to find good viewing spots.
