What Huntsville is spending to land $6 billion Eli Lilly plant and what it’s getting in return

The Huntsville City Council finalized its agreement with Eli Lilly and Company on Thursday, bringing the largest private economic development project in state history to town.

Pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly announced in December at a program at the Von Braun Center that it plans to invest $6 billion in a Huntsville campus and create 450 high-paying jobs. The campus will be located at the northeast corner of Interstate 565 and Greenbrier Parkway.

Terms of the development agreement include Eli Lilly constructing a 750,000 square foot facility with an investment of not less than $4.2 billion and hiring no less than 449 full-time employees. The average salary of those employees will be $112,700, excluding benefits…
