Hartselle man previously charged in child endangerment case arrested for meth possession

A Hartselle man who was charged in 2025 with his wife for chemical endangerment after their grandchild allegedly tested positive for methamphetamine was arrested Wednesday after a deputy located the same drug on him during a traffic stop, according to an affidavit.

Timothy Paul Stephenson, 55, was charged by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office with possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia and was released on a $1,300 bond a few hours after his arrest, records show.

The deputy stopped a white Ford box truck after observing a traffic violation near, then made contact with the driver, Stephenson, at his residence on Bean Road. During a pat-down, the deputy felt what he recognized as a bag of meth in Stephenson’s pocket, and Stephenson removed a clear plastic bag containing about 3.5 grams of the drug, the affidavit states.
