DECATUR, Ala. — A $15 million arts expansion project in Decatur is having an unintended consequence for at least one small business. The Owl Cafe, located inside the Cross-Eyed Owl brewery on the city’s main corridor, announced it will suspend morning hours beginning Feb. 27 after roughly 18 months of construction disrupted customer access to the shop.
The cafe was launched specifically to generate early-day revenue for the Cross-Eyed Owl, which transitions from a coffee shop in the morning to a full brewery operation later in the day. But the timing proved difficult from the start.
