Man arrested after theft of thousands in electronics from church in Decatur

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — The Decatur Police Department says a man was arrested Friday for stealing thousands of dollars in electronics from a church.

DPD said Jurdy Wayne Hughes Jr. was arrested and charged with first-degree theft of property and third-degree burglary in the case.

The department said on Feb. 20, officers responded to a church in the 3000 block of Upper River Road on a burglary call. Authorities said it was found that thousands of dollars in electronic equipment had been stolen from the church.
