MERIDIANVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — For Joseph Houle and his neighbors, this week’s warm winds brought more than the hope of spring; they brought the smells of sewage into their homes.
“We decided to open up our windows, and we live on the other side. It is furthest away as you can get in the subdivision,” Houle said. “My wife got home, and she thought the dogs had messed in the house and I was like, ‘nope, that’s the treatment plant.’”

The plant is owned by Integra Water, LLC., a Birmingham-based private wastewater management company. It has owned and operated the Meridianville plant since 2007.
Integra Water CEO John McDonald told News 19 that no neighborhoods were built in the area yet and supplied a Google Earth image showing fields surrounding the plant’s property.
