Point Mallard Golf Course undergoes major irrigation upgrade ahead of summer in Decatur

Renovations at Point Mallard Golf Course are well underway as the city of Decatur works to enhance the course’s conditions and improve the experience for golfers.

Crews have been busy every day installing the mainline for the course’s new irrigation system, which includes about three and a half miles of pipes.

Course officials have said that this overhaul is long overdue, as the irrigation system has not been fully redone since the course opened in the 1970s. The project aims to create a better experience for golfers, especially during the hot, dry summer months. With the new system, staff will be able to keep the course watered even during drought conditions, which has been a challenge in the past…
