HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Randolph School dismissed students early Thursday to review a safety concern related to a financial extortion scam targeting a faculty member.
According to an email sent to parents, the school first became aware of the activity on Feb. 13 and immediately reported it to law enforcement. A faculty member had been targeted by a financial extortion scam involving threatening emails sent from an alias using the name “Robert Mancini.”
Investigators determined that there was no credible threat to the school and that the activity was consistent with extortion scam tactics using international email infrastructure. According to the Huntsville Police Department, there is no evidence to suggest that any of the threats are credible…
