Flood warning in place for North Alabama Thursday night triggered by excessive rainfall

On Thursday at 7:08 p.m. a flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 10 p.m. for Colbert, Cullman, Franklin, Lawrence and Morgan counties.

The weather service comments, “Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected for portions of north central and northwest Alabama, including in north central Alabama, Cullman and Morgan counties. In northwest Alabama, Colbert, Franklin AL and Lawrence.”

“Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring,” comments the weather service. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.”
