Alabamian with family in Iran urges peace amid military tensions: ‘Distinguish people from government’

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — While the national debate continues over the weekend military strike on Iran, it’s a development that is being felt deeply by members of the Iranian community in Alabama.

Anahita Maleknia, a recent UAB graduate born and raised in Huntsville, spent the day trying to process the events. She woke up with an immediate sense of anxiety — she has family still living in Iran.
