North Alabama Crime Roundup: Murder Suspect Nabbed & Meth Distribution Indictments Shake Region

North Alabama law enforcement has been busy with major developments in recent weeks — from a suspected murderer captured locally to significant indictments in an ongoing drug distribution investigation.

Last week, an 18-year-old murder suspect from Florida was arrested in Limestone County after authorities tracked him along Interstate 65. The suspect, identified as Dominic Alexander Van Wasshenova, was taken into custody near Athens by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office and Huntsville Police Department in connection with the death of his 19-year-old girlfriend discovered in Florida earlier in February. He is currently being held at the Limestone County Jail awaiting extradition on homicide charges.

In another major case, seven men were indicted on federal charges related to methamphetamine distribution and conspiracy across the Northern District of Alabama.
